Terms of Service

Last updated: October 31, 2026

These terms are the deal between you and Lifeboat when you use lifeboatrecovery.com. We wrote them in plain English. Please read them, because by creating an account or using Lifeboat you agree to them.

1. Who we are

Lifeboat ("Lifeboat", "we", "us") runs the website lifeboatrecovery.com and the vault you use there. You can reach us at support@lifeboatrecovery.com.

2. Accounts

  • You must be at least 13 years old to use Lifeboat. If you are under 18, you need permission from a parent or guardian, and a parent or guardian must handle any payment.
  • Give us accurate sign-up details and keep your login safe. You are responsible for what happens in your account.
  • One person per account. Family plans are for the people in your household that you invite.
  • Tell us right away at support@lifeboatrecovery.com if you think someone else got into your account.

3. What Lifeboat does

Today, Lifeboat gives you a private vault with storage based on your plan, where you can:

  • upload, organize, download, and delete files;
  • back up game save folders and website files, with each backup kept by date so you can download it again as a zip;
  • keep the data exports you download from social apps, with steps for getting them;
  • store logins in a password manager that is encrypted on your device with a master password.

Backups happen when you start them. Lifeboat does not reach into your computer or your accounts on its own. To open your vault, we email you a one-time code.

Your master password. Lifeboat never receives your master password and cannot reset it. If you forget it, your saved passwords cannot be recovered.

Some features shown on our website, like virus scanning, breach alerts, scam checking, and guided recovery, are still being built and may not be available yet. We will say on the site when they open.

Lifeboat is not connected to Google, Instagram, Steam, or any other company whose accounts we may help you recover. Our recovery help is guidance. We cannot promise any company will give you an account back.

4. Plans and payments

  • Free plan. 1 GB of storage at no cost.
  • Paid plans. Personal, Family, and the Creator add-on are billed monthly in US dollars at the prices shown on our pricing page when you subscribe. Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
  • Automatic renewal. Paid plans renew every month and charge your payment method until you cancel.
  • Cancelling. Cancel any time from Manage billing in your vault. You keep your paid plan until the end of the month you already paid for, and you will not be charged again.
  • Refunds. Payments are not refunded for partial months, except where the law requires it. If something went wrong, email us and we will look at it fairly.
  • Price changes. If we change a price, we will email you at least 14 days before your next bill at the new price, so you have time to cancel.
  • Storage limits. If you use more storage than your plan allows, for example after moving to a smaller plan, your files stay put, but you cannot upload more until you delete some or upgrade.
  • Failed payments. If a payment fails and is not fixed, your account may move to the Free plan.
  • Family plan. The person who pays (the owner) can invite up to 5 other people by username. Everyone shares the plan's storage. Each person's own vault stays private, and the Family folder is shared with everyone in the family. The owner can remove people, and anyone can leave. If the owner leaves the Family plan, sharing pauses until they switch back; files are not deleted, but members fall back to their own plan's storage.

5. Your files

Your files belong to you. You give us permission only to store, copy, and send your files back to you as needed to run Lifeboat, for example keeping them on our storage provider's servers and creating download links when you ask. We do not sell your files or use them for advertising. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data.

You are responsible for making sure you have the right to upload what you upload.

6. Rules

Do not use Lifeboat to:

  • store or share anything illegal, including child sexual abuse material, which we report to the authorities as the law requires;
  • share malware or use the service to attack other people or computers;
  • store or share content that infringes someone else's copyright or other rights;
  • harass, stalk, threaten, or spy on anyone;
  • try to get into accounts or files that are not yours, or test, break, or get around our security;
  • resell Lifeboat, or overload it with automated traffic.

News and feedback posts are public. Anyone can read them, with your username shown. Keep posts respectful and do not share private information. Lifeboat may remove posts and give or remove verified badges at its discretion.

If you think something on Lifeboat infringes your copyright, email us with the details and we will respond.

7. Keep a second copy

We work hard to keep your files safe, but no storage service is perfect. For anything you cannot afford to lose, keep another copy somewhere else too.

8. Ending your account

  • You can stop using Lifeboat at any time. You can delete your files from your vault yourself. To delete your whole account and everything in it, email us from the address on your account and we will do it within 30 days.
  • We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, does not pay, or that we must close for legal reasons. When we can, we will tell you first and give you a chance to download your files. We may act without notice for illegal content or to protect other people.
  • If we ever shut Lifeboat down, we will give you at least 30 days' notice so you can download your files.

9. Legal fine print

No warranty. Lifeboat is provided "as is" and "as available." To the extent the law allows, we do not promise that it will always be available, error-free, or that it will meet every need.

Limit of liability. To the extent the law allows, Lifeboat is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost data, lost profits, or lost accounts, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $50, whichever is more. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.

Your responsibility. If you break these terms or the law and someone makes a claim against us because of it, you agree to cover the reasonable costs that result, to the extent the law allows.

Governing law. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring it somewhere else.

Changes. We may update these terms. If a change is important, we will email you or show a notice on the site before it takes effect. If you keep using Lifeboat after that, you accept the new terms.

The whole agreement. These terms and our Privacy Policy are the full agreement between you and Lifeboat. If part of them cannot be enforced, the rest still applies.
